Chicago Stars FC Acquires Forward Simone Charley; Transfers Forward Ivonne Chacón to ACF Fiorentina

Chicago Stars FC today announced the club has acquired Simone Charley from USL Gainbridge Super League side Brooklyn FC in exchange for an agreed-upon fee. Charley returns to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) for the remainder of the 2026 season. The club has also transferred forward Ivonne Chacón to Serie A Women’s side ACF Fiorentina. Chacón departs the Stars having scored one goal in 18 appearances since joining the club late in 2025.

Charley has spent most of her professional career in the NWSL, beginning with Portland Thorns FC from 2019-2021. At Portland, the Alabama native made 30 regular-season appearances, scoring five goals and two assists. Charley then joined Angel City FC via trade for the California club’s inaugural 2022 season, recording 22 regular-season appearances and two goals between 2022 and 2023 before joining the Orlando Pride. After sustaining a season-ending-injury in preseason training with the Pride in 2024, Charley made her comeback in 2025, ending the year’s campaign with nine regular-season appearances and one goal.

In February 2026, Charley headed across the pond to join Newcastle United for the remainder of the 2025-2026 Barclays Women’s Super League 2 season. Following the conclusion of her time with the Magpies, Charley returned stateside to sign with Brooklyn FC and began preseason training prior to transferring to the Chicago Stars.
Chacón signed with Chicago in August 2025 after playing the 2024-25 Liga F season with Levante U.D. In 2025, the Colombia native played five regular season matches with one start for 178 minutes. This season, she played 13 matches with one start for 195 minutes. Chacón scored her lone goal for the club on October 5, 2025, against Utah Royals FC.
Internationally, Chacón has been part of the Women’s National Team since 2022, earning a spot of the Colombian 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup team, where she helped her country reach the quarterfinal stage of the tournament – the furthest any Colombian team has ever gone in the World Cup. After joining the Stars, Chacón was called up by Colombia twice, competing with Las Cafeteras in their first matches of the2025-26 CONMEBOL Liga de Naciones Femenina tournament.
Chicago Stars FC returns to action on August 14, on the road against Seattle Reign FC. The match will kick off at 9 p.m. CT at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. After another road match against the Houston Dash August 19, the Chicago Stars will return home to face Racing Louisville FC August 23, kicking off at 1 p.m. CT at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Illinois.
